On board with Mariska (D1)

I was invited by the management team to sail on board for two days of racing, with the aim of capturing the spirit and energy of a crew as they competed in one of their final regattas, racing against three J15-metre yachts. There are currently only four vessels of this class still afloat.

Perhaps the greatest challenge is not getting in the crew’s way during manoeuvres, sail hoists, or douses. Staying alert and anticipating the action is key to successfully capturing the effort and dedication of this mixed crew, which embodies the traditional spirit of sailing aboard this 1908 vessel.
